ABOUT JESSICA HOLLY MORENO

I was born and raised in the fabulous east bay. I spent my wild youth running amuck on the streets of Berkeley doing all the things your parents warned you to never do. I started making art as a child and in my teens I did oil paintings (which have all been lost and i'm ok with that!) and charcoal drawings.

Later in life I moved on to craftier, more functional items such as frames made from popsickle sticks and painted/decoupaged tea tins. I later returned to painting in my 20's and made quite a few large scale mixed media pieces which were pretty gloomy and often featured old photographs with the people painted out (most of those were lost, too!).

Then, at age 28, I decided to have children. Here it is 5 years later and I am just starting to make art again. In the summer of 2005 I tried my hand at silver, went back to painting and then christmas came and I thought it would be good to make felt elves. I then decided to make these pictures that you will see on AllFeltUp.com. Needless to say, I am now fully immersed in felt. It is piled up all around me. I love cutting each little piece and putting together these kooky little pictures that make me happy. Sometimes they are sweet and sometimes sweetly subversive. I think that sums me up fairly well.
